Meet the Coaches

Varsity Head Baseball Coach – Philip Russ

Educational Background – B.S. Physical Education, Catawba College, 2011; M.S. Sports Management, Western Carolina University, 2017

A native of Polkville, North Carolina, Coach Russ enters his first year in the Eagle baseball program as Head Coach while teaching Environmental Science and coaching football at St. Lucie West Centennial High School. Coach Russ was a member of the Cherryville Post 100, 2007 NC American State Championship team. He played both baseball and football during his time at Catawba College. Since graduation, Coach Russ has created quite an impressive coaching resume. Coach Russ started his coaching career at Salisbury High School where he was a part of the 2010 2AA Football State Champions. After leaving Salisbury High School, he moved to West Lincoln High School (2A) where he served in multiple capacities for the football, basketball, and softball programs. In 2014, Coach Russ spent time at Jack Britt High School (4AA), coaching football as the JV Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator and baseball as the JV Head Coach for the Buccaneers while teaching Physical Education/Health. In 2015, Coach Russ took over the baseball program at Bessemer City High School (1A) while also coaching football and starting the school’s first FCA Huddle. Coach Russ was selected to coach in the NC Powerade State Games where he successfully won 2 Gold medals and a Bronze medal during his 4 year tenure representing Region 6

Coach Russ is happily married to his wife, Hunter.

Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach – Trey Page

Educational Background – B.S. Sport and Fitness Management, Troy University, 2015; M.S. Sport and Fitness Management/Athletic Administration, Troy University, 2019

A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Coach Page attended Oak Mountain High School where he was a 4-year letter winner in football and a 2-year letter winner in baseball. Coach Page attended Troy University and received a Bachelor of Science in Sport and Fitness Management. While at Troy, Page was a 4-year letter winner as well as a captain as a senior on the football team. As a coach in 2016-17 he helped Evangel Christian Academy (AL) reach the playoffs for the first time in several years in football and the first time in three years in baseball. Coach Page now teaches freshman seminar while coaching Football, Women’s basketball and Baseball at St. Lucie West Centennial High School.
