Centennial Eagles watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in an 8-0 loss to Vero Beach on Friday. Vero Beach scored on a single by Timo Aracena in the first inning and a error in the second inning.
The Centennial Eagles struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Vero Beach, giving up eight runs.
Vero Beach got things moving in the first inning, when Aracena singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.
One bright spot for the Centennial Eagles was a single by Brandon Bernstein in the first inning.
Hunter Parris was the winning pitcher for Vero Beach. He lasted four innings, allowing three hits and zero runs while striking out seven. Jake Nolan and Joseph Rahal entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
John Riordan took the loss for Centennial. He went three innings, allowing six runs on four hits and striking out one.
